About the Role
Arcadis is the world's leading company delivering sustainable design, engineering, and consultancy solutions for natural and built assets. With over 34,000 people across more than 30 countries, we are dedicated to improving quality of life by solving complex challenges through innovation and collaboration. Our two-year Graduate GROW Programme supports your transition from student to professional, involving real client work and projects from day one. Each graduate’s journey is unique, shaped by their chosen specialism and the variety of projects they contribute to. You will build technical expertise by contributing to meaningful client engagements and project work, while developing business acumen and professional skills through centrally delivered graduate cohort training. Graduates are encouraged and supported to proactively seek opportunities to broaden their experience and development.

As an engineer on the GROW programme, you will specialise within your chosen discipline and gain the experiences needed to become a technical expert. You will develop core engineering and consulting techniques applicable to UK and international clients. Our civil engineering teams work across highways, rail, energy, and water sectors, delivering safe, high-quality, and sustainable design solutions. You will be supported and mentored while contributing to projects ranging from local schemes to major international developments, working with diverse multidisciplinary teams and following a structured path towards professional qualification.

Using advanced software and digital tools, you will design new infrastructure and assess existing assets for repair or reuse. You will gain hands-on experience across sectors, learning about project delivery models, contracts, and commercial constraints. Collaboration with other disciplines and site visits will ensure your designs are safe, buildable, and sustainable. Civil engineers at Arcadis play a central role in tackling the climate emergency by delivering resilient, low-carbon solutions that maximise environmental, social, and economic impact.

Depending on your specialism, your work may include:
- Designing highways and transportation infrastructure such as roads, junctions, bridges, and active travel routes using tools like Civil 3D, OpenRoads, and BIM.
- Developing water management solutions for waste and clean water infrastructure to ensure resilience and quality of water supplies.
- Designing rail infrastructure including stations, bridges, utility crossings, drainage, and support structures, meeting strict rail standards and health and safety requirements.
- Supporting energy projects involving new connections and grid upgrades to help meet Net Zero carbon reduction ambitions.

You will engage with clients and stakeholders, developing skills across all project stages from concept to construction on UK and international projects. The role may involve site visits and some travel, with virtual working embraced where possible.

Comfortable with site-based working when necessary.

About you
You demonstrate resilience, creativity, analytical thinking, and teamwork. You have excellent communication skills and the ability to use your technical knowledge to influence and consult stakeholders. You are motivated to develop your skills and contribute to sustainable engineering solutions.
