We are recruiting for an experienced Grounds Maintenance Supervisor to lead a small grounds team across a range of parks, open spaces, sports facilities, cemeteries and community sites in Ash.
This is a varied role combining team supervision, work planning and administration with hands-on grounds maintenance. Around 60% of the role will focus on managing staff and coordinating work, with approximately 40% involving practical duties.
About the Role
You will be responsible for the day-to-day supervision of a team of four grounds staff and for ensuring maintenance work is planned, completed safely and delivered to a high standard.
Responsibilities will include:
Allocating work and producing weekly task schedules
Supervising staff and checking completed work
Coordinating maintenance across parks, open spaces, sports pitches, cemeteries and community facilities
Carrying out practical grounds maintenance and basic repairs
Managing staff rotas and occasional weekend or public holiday cover
Completing risk assessments, COSHH records and other health and safety documentation
Monitoring tools, machinery, vehicles, PPE and equipment maintenance
Managing playground inspections and arranging repairs where required
Maintaining accurate records, inventories and purchase orders
Identifying specialist works and obtaining contractor quotations
Supporting community events with setup, dismantling and site clearance
Important Eligibility Information
Applicants must:
Hold a full UK driving licence
Have relevant practical grounds maintenance experience
Have previous experience supervising or coordinating staff
Be able to work in Ash, Surrey, Monday to Friday from 8:00am to 4:00pm
Be willing to complete a short application form before submission
You should have:
Around two years’ experience supervising or leading staff
Hands-on grounds maintenance, landscaping, horticulture or similar practical experience
Experience allocating work and managing day-to-day team activity
Good organisational and record-keeping skills
Basic IT skills, including email and spreadsheets
An understanding of safe working practices and risk assessments
A practical and flexible approach
A full UK driving licence
Experience of cemetery maintenance, playground inspections, public facilities or community sites would be useful but is not essential.

Salary of £32,061 to £35,412, depending on experience
