About the Role
Join WSP's UK and Ireland Mine Water team as a Hydrologist or Water Resource Engineer, contributing to a variety of projects primarily within the mining sector, with opportunities to work across infrastructure, manufacturing, and land development. You will be involved in environmental assessments, permitting, engineering design, ESG considerations, and water stewardship. Key responsibilities include conducting climate, hydrological, and hydraulic assessments; developing water management plans; performing water balance and climate change modelling; designing water management infrastructure; and conducting dam break analyses and consequence classification assessments. You will prepare technical documents for senior review, support non-mining projects such as Flood Risk Assessments and SuDS design, and travel for project-based site work as required. Collaboration with colleagues and support for senior staff to meet project goals is essential, alongside assisting in client relationship development and business growth. A strong safety-first attitude aligned with WSP's health and safety culture is expected.

Requirements

Experience
- Demonstrable experience conducting hydrologic and hydraulic assessments and/or designing water management infrastructure
- Previous experience working on mining sector projects is advantageous
- Experience in consulting or engineering environments preferred

Qualifications
- BSc degree (or equivalent) in Water Resource Engineering, Civil Engineering (with hydrology and hydraulics modules), Geography, or Environmental Sciences (with hydrology module)
- MSc in hydrology and/or hydraulic design is advantageous
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook)
- Competency with GIS and CAD systems desirable
- Competency in programming languages such as Python, R, or C is a plus
- Experience with hydrologic and hydraulic modelling software (e.g., HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, PC SWMM) preferred
- Competency with GoldSim Monte Carlo Simulation software is advantageous
- Membership of a relevant professional organisation is desirable

Additional Skills
- Ability to travel to and from sites across the UK and internationally as required
