As a Lead Quantity Surveyor / Supply Chain professional, you will work alongside cost managers, procurement professionals, and project managers on a variety of projects within the energy power sector. Your role will involve supporting the development and execution of effective category and commercial strategies, contract procurement, and commercial administration during project execution to ensure value for money and safe delivery of client programmes and objectives.
You will be a key driver in forming and executing commercial strategies, building and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders such as Project Managers, Engineering, Marine, Estimating, Accounts teams, and the supply chain.
Role Accountabilities
- Support the Commercial and Procurement Management Team with collaborative behaviours based on mutual trust and cooperation
- Develop effective commercial strategies including acquisition and contracting at programme, project, and category levels
- Produce high-quality Tender Documentation, including collation of Works Information and contract documents
- Manage and monitor progress of variations or Requests for Quotations (RFQs)
- Assess and value Contractor applications and process payment certificates in line with contractual terms
- Administer the Early Warning process and ensure contractual deliverables are met
- Review Contractor deliveries and attend valuation and progress review meetings where appropriate
- Monitor and report on commercial aspects of contracts and procurement activities, flagging issues early
- Provide advice on contract changes, recommend actions, and prepare required documentation
- Prepare commercial cost reports and progress measurements
- Compile Supplier Performance and Lessons Learnt Reports
Experience
- Proven experience working within a commercial team environment
- Knowledge of industry-standard procurement practices
- Experience producing high-quality Tender Documentation and collating Works Information
- Experience with payment applications and certificates
- Experience assessing Compensation Events/Variations and Early Warning Notices
- Experience with Final Account assessments and cost audits
- Proficient in contract management and finance systems
- Familiarity with Forms of Contract such as NEC and/or FIDIC within construction and major projects (power, oil & gas, water, rail), ideally power sector
- Understanding of contract performance measurement, risk management, change and claim management
- Strong negotiating, influencing, and communication skills to command professional respect at all levels
- Effective commercial and contract management skills in both pre- and post-contract phases
- Experience working within regulated sectors is beneficial
- Specific project experience delivering HV cables, subsea cables, and HV equipment in offshore settings is welcomed
- Background in Offshore Renewables is advantageous but not essential; relevant transferable experience is considered

Qualifications
