About the Role
The Thames Water Inventory and Supply team manages network and critical materials, field engineering parts and tools, and mobile plant through distribution centres, strategic hubs, and depots. Operating 24/7 throughout the year, the team supports Thames Water businesses in meeting service commitments by providing real-time distribution and equipment service.
As a Logistics Scheduler, you will play a key role in understanding resource requirements and constraints to prioritise resources effectively to support field engineers' demands. This role requires a highly organised individual with strong planning skills, the ability to engage well within the team, and clear communication with wider stakeholders.
Your responsibilities will include engaging with the Planning team and Enablers to assess workload and prioritise jobs on both planned and reactive bases. You will plan and allocate collection and delivery tasks to Support Drivers based on their skill sets and operating geography using Salesforce. You will also plan jobs for works preparation (such as SLG, cone offs, and letter drops) ensuring materials and equipment are delivered correctly and set up ahead of works start.
Job details must comply fully with traffic management and streetworks legislation to avoid fines. You will ensure Support Drivers maintain a safe work environment and uphold Thames Water’s Health & Safety commitments. Managing and prioritising the Support Drivers’ workload to meet urgent jobs (2 hour/4 hour) is essential.
You will monitor job progress through updates from planning, dig teams, and supervisors to identify additional resource needs. Daily reporting on resource utilisation and job completion will help maintain Inventory Field Operations service commitments. You will monitor collections to avoid overruns and work closely with planning to ensure permit end dates are met, escalating any risks of fines immediately.
Tracking Salesforce for forecasted completion dates will allow you to plan site inspections and clearances. You will also provide weekly reports on expected weekend work to ensure resources and materials availability.
This is a vital role supporting Thames Water’s operational success and commitment to customers and communities.
