Hours
38 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 7:30 am – 3:36 pm plus standby rota. Standby rota payments and overtime opportunities can increase earning potential by up to £8,000-£10,000 per annum upon completion of essential company training.
Salary
Up to £45,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience, plus standby rota payments and overtime opportunities.
About the Role
We are recruiting a Mechanical & Electrical Technician to join our Waste Water Division at Deephams STW. In this role, you will use your mechanical and electrical knowledge and experience to inspect, maintain, fault diagnose, test, install, modify, or repair mechanical plant and associated electrical equipment safely, efficiently, and with minimal supervision. Your work will ensure all sites remain operational, helping to reduce pollution and positively impact the environment.
- Carry out scheduled planned maintenance on mechanical and electrical equipment in compliance with company procedures to minimise plant breakdowns.
- Investigate plant failures and carry out repairs quickly and efficiently to avoid process interruptions, including diagnosing complex faults.
- Provide technical advice, maintain up-to-date technical knowledge, and support or train technical trainees as required.
- Work on equipment such as pumps and associated control gear, 3-phase motors, starters and controls, electronic control systems (VSDs), automatic valves and penstocks, flow, level and pressure measurement devices, programmable logic controllers, variable speed drives, chemical handling and dosing equipment.
- Participate in a standby rota following relevant training.
All PPE, tools, a company van, and a fuel card are provided.
Experience
- Time-served electrical apprentice with significant experience in electrical systems working in a true multi-skilled capacity.
- Ideally upskilled with a mechanical qualification to inspect, maintain, fault diagnose, test, install, modify, or repair mechanical and electrical plant equipment safely and efficiently.
- Candidates with mechanical or electrical experience only will be considered for development to dual-skilled status.
About you
- Knowledge and awareness of health and safety issues are crucial.
- Physically fit to work in confined spaces following successful completion of appropriate training.
- A valid driving licence is essential.
- Reliable, motivated, and able to work with minimal supervision.
Qualifications
- Electrical apprenticeship or equivalent.
- ONC/HNC in engineering, NVQ, or City & Guilds Level 3 in Electrical Engineering.
- Mechanical NVQ Level 2 or 3 qualification is highly desirable.
