Location
Oxford, with maintenance teams across London and the Thames Valley.

Hours
38 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 7:30 am to 3:36 pm, plus standby rota payments and overtime opportunities.

Salary
Up to £39,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience, plus company van, tools, and PPE.

About the Role
As a Mechanical Technician at Thames Water, you will use your mechanical knowledge and experience to inspect, maintain, fault diagnose, test, install, modify, or repair mechanical plant and associated electrical equipment. You will work safely, efficiently, and effectively with minimum supervision to ensure all sites remain operational for the benefit of our customers. This role offers an excellent opportunity to make a real difference to Thames Water's environmental impact by actively helping to reduce pollution from our sites.

Your responsibilities will include ensuring health, safety, and well-being for yourself and others by complying with Health and Safety regulations and Thames Water guidelines. You will undertake both reactive and planned maintenance, respond to alarms, fault find, fix or escalate issues, and perform daily planned maintenance of plant and equipment. You will also install new plant and equipment in line with current standards and regulations.

Recording work and asset information to improve business performance, identifying potential risks, and recommending changes will be part of your daily duties. You will provide specialist technical advice, coach, train, and develop staff including apprentices. Delivering excellent customer experience and interacting professionally with internal and external customers is essential.

Additional benefits include all PPE, tools, and a company van when on duty and on call. Overtime and standby rota payments can increase your earning potential by up to £8,000-£10,000 per annum upon completion of essential company training.

Requirements

Experience
Time-served apprentice with significant experience in mechanical/electrical systems or holding NVQ or C&G Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering.

- Knowledge and awareness of Health and Safety issues relevant to the industry.
- Team player who works well in different teams, showing respect, providing helpful feedback, and supporting others' development.
- Full UK driving licence.

Qualifications
NVQ or C&G Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent time-served apprenticeship qualification.
