Salary
Up to £45,000 per annum depending on skills and experience. Additional earnings potential of £8,000-£10,000 per annum through standby rota payments and overtime upon completion of essential company training.

About the Role
We are recruiting Mechanical & Electrical Technicians to join our team at Maple Lodge Sewage Treatment Works. In this role, you will use your mechanical and electrical expertise to inspect, maintain, fault diagnose, test, install, modify, or repair mechanical plant and associated electrical equipment safely, efficiently, and with minimal supervision. Your work will ensure our sites remain operational, helping to reduce pollution and positively impact the environment.

You will carry out scheduled planned maintenance on mechanical and electrical equipment following company procedures to minimise plant breakdowns. Investigating plant failures and performing repairs quickly and efficiently to avoid process interruptions will be a key responsibility. This may include diagnosing complex faults and repairing equipment during incidents.

You will provide technical advice, stay up to date with technical knowledge, and may support or train technical trainees as required. Equipment you will work on includes pumps and control gear, 3-phase motors, starters and controls, electronic control systems such as variable speed drives (VSDs), automatic valves and penstocks, flow, level and pressure measurement devices, programmable logic controllers, chemical handling and dosing equipment.

You will participate in a standby rota following relevant training. All necessary PPE, tools, a company van, and a fuel card will be provided.

Experience
Time-served electrical apprentice with significant experience in electrical systems working in a multi-skilled capacity. Mechanical NVQ2/3 qualification or equivalent upskilling is crucial. Candidates with only mechanical or electrical experience will be considered for development to dual-skilled status.

Knowledge and awareness of health and safety issues are essential. Experience working in confined spaces and physical fitness are required, with successful completion of appropriate training.

A valid driving licence is essential.

About you
Reliable, safety-conscious, and able to work independently with minimal supervision. You should be motivated to maintain and improve plant reliability and have a proactive approach to fault diagnosis and repair. Ability to provide technical advice and support to trainees is desirable.

Qualifications
Electrical apprenticeship, ONC/HNC in engineering, NVQ, or City & Guilds Level 3 in Electrical Engineering with mechanical NVQ2/3 upskilling is required.
