We are currently recruiting for a Multi Skilled Operative to join a public housing maintenance team delivering essential repair services across Southwark Council properties. This is a full-time, long-term opportunity ideal for someone with experience in carpentry, plumbing, tiling, plastering or decorating, who is confident delivering a wide range of trades to a high standard.

Please note: This role is restricted to applicants who live in the London Borough of Southwark, as part of Section 106 local employment requirements. We regret that we cannot consider applicants who do not meet this borough eligibility.

What You’ll Do
• Deliver a wide range of repairs and maintenance tasks across occupied and void properties
• Work independently or as part of a multi-skilled team delivering high-quality refurbishment works
• Carry out trade tasks including carpentry, plumbing, tiling, plastering and decorating
• Complete inspection, installation, repair and maintenance work with minimal supervision
• Accurately diagnose issues, document findings and suggest remedial action
• Use handheld devices to log job status and updates
• Maintain tools, materials, and vehicle in a safe, tidy condition
• Promote excellent customer service and support vulnerable residents as needed
• Support and mentor apprentices or trainees on site
• Adhere to all relevant health and safety standards and site protocols

What We’re Looking For
• Relevant trade qualifications – NVQ Level 2 or 3 in a core trade (e.g. Carpentry, Plumbing or Multi-Skilled)
• Experience delivering a wide range of building repairs across housing stock
• Strong knowledge of health and safety standards in a live working environment
• Full UK driving licence
• Able to read plans, drawings and specifications
• Good literacy, numeracy and IT skills (e.g. for mobile job reporting systems)
• Strong work ethic, punctuality, and customer service focus
• Ability to work at height and across a range of occupied and empty properties in the borough
• Willingness to work flexibly across multiple sites and occasionally out of hours when needed

Pay
£37,221 – £52,521 per year (dependent on qualifications and experience)

Southwark (Borough restriction applies)

Hours
36 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Potential out-of-hours support may be required on a rota basis
