About the Role

Our Rail North Business Unit has an exciting opportunity for an OLE Principal Engineer to join our growing OLE team. In this diverse role, you will act as a technical lead responsible for managing technical aspects of larger projects or components of major Rail projects. You will ensure projects meet financial, quality, and timeframe objectives while exceeding client expectations. You will lead design and CRE responsibilities, develop OLE designs throughout all project lifecycle stages for Network Rail sites, and manage the production and quality assurance of designs and associated documentation. Collaborating with other design disciplines, you will oversee project teams and sub-contractors, manage performance, and present design options to maximize profitability. Experience
- Supervision of large Overhead Line electrical technical design projects
- Providing technical management and advice to project teams
- Applying sound impartial engineering judgement in project development
- Delivery to project quality management systems
- Managing design risks and technical ownership of Designer Hazard Logs
- Knowledge of legislation, hazards, and safe systems of work
- Managing health, safety, and welfare within own area of responsibility

About you
Confident planner and communicator with effective personal and social skills. Able to discuss ideas capably and provide technical leadership. Committed to maintaining and extending a sound theoretical approach to engineering practice. Able to oversee technical resources and contribute to engineering budget and schedule estimates on large, complex projects.

Qualifications
- BSc/BEng or MSc/MEng in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering discipline
- Chartered or Incorporated Engineer professional status, or equivalent
