About the Role
Join a large company carrying out plumbing work on new build properties for well-known builders such as Berkley, Taylor Wimpey, Bellway and Pye Homes. As an apprentice, you will gain hands-on experience working within new build homes, learning plumbing, heating, and renewable energy installation and maintenance. Your duties will include general plumbing repairs, central heating servicing and installation, boiler servicing and installation, bathroom and kitchen installation, and assisting skilled plumbers with various tasks.
You will learn to plan, select, size, install, test, commission, fault find, diagnose, and maintain plumbing systems. You will develop skills in interpreting technical drawings, measuring, marking, cutting, and installing components, and using hand and power tools safely. Health and safety awareness is essential, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). You will maintain a clean and organized work environment and may assist with general site duties.
This apprenticeship offers opportunities to observe other trades to understand the sequence of work on building projects. Training will be provided both on-site and at college, with at least 20% of your working hours dedicated to study and training.
Training
You will attend Abingdon and Witney College or another training organisation one day per week as part of your Plumbing and Domestic Heating Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard. The apprenticeship duration is 4 years, with a possible start date of Saturday 01 August 2026. Positions available: 12.
Qualifications
GCSEs in English and Maths at grade 4 or above, and a Pass in Driving are essential. Please inform the company of any other relevant qualifications or industry experience, as the apprenticeship can be adjusted accordingly.
