About the Role
Join a large company specialising in plumbing work on new build properties for major builders such as Berkley, Taylor Wimpey, Bellway, and Pye Homes. This apprenticeship offers hands-on experience working within new build homes, learning plumbing, heating, renewable energy, general plumbing repairs and maintenance, central heating servicing and installation, boiler servicing and installation, and bathroom and kitchen installation. You will assist skilled plumbers, learning planning, selecting, sizing, installation, testing, commissioning, fault finding, diagnostics, rectification, routine service and maintenance, and decommissioning tasks.
You will learn to select materials, measure, mark, cut, and install components, interpret technical drawings, calculate material requirements, and carry out work to high standards of quality and speed. Safe working practices, including the use of hand and power tools and personal protective equipment (PPE), will be emphasised. You will maintain a clean and organised work environment, handle materials safely, and follow instructions from supervisors and managers. Opportunities to observe other trades on site will help you understand the sequence of work on building projects.
This apprenticeship includes regular training with Abingdon and Witney College or other training organisations, with at least 20% of your working hours spent in training or study. The apprenticeship duration is 4 years, with college attendance typically one day per week.
