About the Role
Opportunities like this are rare. SLR Consulting Limited is seeking a high calibre individual to lead and grow our existing Hydrology and Hydrogeology Practice within the European Region as a Practice Leader. Our Hydrology and Hydrogeology Practice comprises a team of 75 specialists delivering technical excellence in managing surface water, groundwater, and geochemistry challenges. The team works on projects supporting Net Zero ambitions and contributes significantly to the sustainability of new developments and existing operations across the UK, Ireland, mainland Europe, and beyond.

Our hydrology services include flood risk assessments and hydraulic modelling, stormwater drainage design, pollution control, operational water management, and water monitoring. Hydrogeology and geochemistry services include hydrogeological risk assessment, groundwater and contaminant modelling, passive water treatment design, and groundwater monitoring.

Reporting to the European Business Unit Director for Earth Sciences, you will be a member of the Business Unit Leadership Team and lead the Hydrology and Hydrogeology Practice currently located across the UK and Ireland. You will have primary responsibility for operational management, team development, and technical delivery. This includes setting and implementing the Practice’s strategy for learning and development, growth, and operational improvement.

You will have autonomy to make decisions to meet market and business needs, working closely with senior colleagues. Key responsibilities include leading and growing the Practice’s capability, developing and implementing commercial strategy, driving revenue and margin growth, expanding services, building strong client relationships, monitoring market trends, targeting key hires, managing budgets and financial performance, collaborating with sector leads and marketing, promoting health and safety culture, and fostering inclusive leadership.

Requirements

Experience
Proven track record of leading a large and diverse consultancy team with strong client management and people leadership skills. Demonstrable work winning ability and experience in setting and delivering against annual budgets. Experience in developing and implementing strategic visions and driving business growth.

Ability to operate a business effectively, managing for profit and delivering client satisfaction. Experience in identifying and driving operational improvements across technical, quality, financial, project, and people areas.

Strong client relationship management skills with the ability to cross-sell multi-disciplinary services and secure repeat business.

Qualifications
