About the Role
Due to continued business growth, an exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Field Ecologist to join SLR Consulting Limited’s ecology team. In this senior role, you will lead and deliver a range of projects across multiple business sectors, particularly Renewables and the Built Environment. You will be responsible for providing ecology inputs to large and complex projects, managing ecological survey work packages, and advising clients and contractors. The role involves field surveys and mitigation projects relating to ornithology, protected and notable mammals, and habitats, with potential involvement in herpetofauna, fish habitat, and invertebrate surveys.
You will manage and oversee ecological aspects of projects, prepare fee proposals and scopes of work, write and review technical reports, and supervise and mentor ecology staff. Depending on your skills, you may also lead site work on specific ecological specialisms and manage staff. Collaboration with other technical teams such as planning, landscape, hydrology, noise, and air quality is a key part of the role.
This position requires a significant amount of travel and time away from home, with fieldwork conducted in all weather conditions and occasionally in remote locations. SLR supports work-life balance by offering paid overtime or time off in lieu/flexible working arrangements to manage these demands.
SLR is a global leader in Sustainability Solutions with over 4,000 employees across 6 regions and 125 countries. We offer a collaborative and supportive environment, competitive salaries, comprehensive benefits including pension, healthcare, travel and life insurance, and a structured career framework with excellent progression opportunities.
