About the Role
Due to continued business growth, an opportunity has arisen for an experienced Project Ecologist (approximately 1-3 years experience) to join our ecology team in a Senior Field role. The role involves field surveys and mitigation projects relating to ornithology, protected and notable mammals, and habitats. You may also have the opportunity to be involved in herpetofauna, fish habitat, and invertebrate surveys. Depending on your skills, responsibilities may include managing and overseeing ecological aspects of projects, advising clients and contractors on schemes within the power, built environment, and infrastructure sectors, preparing fee proposals and scopes of work, report writing, and technical review of peer and sub-contractor reports. You will supervise and mentor ecology staff, with potential for staff management and leading site work on particular ecological specialisms. Scheduling, managing, and ensuring delivery of ecological survey work packages on time and within budget will be key duties. You will liaise with other SLR technical teams on subjects including planning, landscape, hydrology, noise, and air quality, working closely with senior members of the ecology team across SLR offices.

This role involves significant travel and time away from home, as well as survey work in all weather conditions and occasionally in remote locations. Long days may occasionally be required for fieldwork, with paid overtime or time off in lieu/flexible working offered to help manage this.
