About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Hydrogeologist or Environmental Scientist with a focus on the water environment to join our busy Hydrology and Hydrogeology team. You will manage a varied workload delivering projects across minerals, waste management, renewables, property, and infrastructure sectors. Your work will include environmental impact assessments, water monitoring, hydrogeological site investigations, groundwater abstraction licences, and hydrogeological risk assessments tailored to your interests.
You will collaborate closely with hydrologists, hydrogeologists, and colleagues from ecology, land quality, planning, and minerals teams to support multi-disciplinary projects. This role offers an excellent opportunity to progress your career by managing projects, developing client relationships, and providing technical guidance to junior staff.
Typical project work includes:
- Environmental Impact Assessments, coordinating Water Environment chapters and technical appendices for Environmental Statements
- Water environment components of environmental management, including construction environmental management plans, post-consent discharge obligations, and water advice to the construction industry
- Site works such as walkover surveys, monitoring borehole installation, hydraulic testing, and groundwater/surface water monitoring programmes
- Supporting clients with abstraction licensing, Hydrogeological Risk Assessments for landfill and recovery permits, and Groundwater Risk Assessments for discharges and groundwater activity permits.

Experience
- Proven experience delivering a range of technical water environment and hydrogeological studies
- Specialist technical skills such as surface water and groundwater sampling best practices, Environmental Impact Assessment requirements, and expertise with GIS, analysis, and modelling software
- Good understanding of UK water-related legislation and regulation affecting businesses
About you
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to diverse audiences through reports and meetings (online and in-person)
- Able to work independently and collaboratively within a team
- Motivated to take on project management responsibilities and client relationship development
Qualifications
- Relevant academic qualifications in hydrogeology, environmental science, or related discipline
- Working toward or already registered as a Chartered specialist through a UK/EU recognised organisation (or equivalent overseas organisation)
- Full, current UK driving licence
