About the Role
At WSP, you will have the opportunity to work on landmark projects and connect with leading experts in civil engineering. As a Principal Civil Infrastructure Engineer within the Development team, you will lead the day-to-day technical delivery of civil engineering consultancy services throughout all project stages, from feasibility and concept design to planning, detailed design, and construction. Your expertise will cover drainage, SuDS, flood risk, highways, streetscape, earthworks, and utilities across a variety of land, property, and infrastructure development projects.
You will provide project leadership, acting as Project Manager where required, and support a team of experienced and developing technical staff by offering guidance and mentorship. Your role will involve high-profile client engagement, stakeholder management, collaboration with internal and external multidisciplinary design teams, and ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality and compliance standards.
The Development team is a well-established, high-performing discipline within the Planning and Development business unit, focused on delivering projects from initial land acquisition and planning support through to scheme implementation. The team works with public and private sector land promoters, house builders, developers, architects, government bodies, and local authorities to promote and manage sustainable development.
Key multi-disciplinary services you will help deliver include drainage, flood risk and SuDS design, civil engineering and highways design, earthworks strategies, utilities and energy planning, site appraisal, due diligence, and strategic planning advice.
