About the Role

We are seeking a Senior environmental professional to join our Environmental Management and Assessment Team within the London or South East offices. Our portfolio spans diverse sectors including energy, aviation, nuclear, rail, property, and local government. As one of the UK’s largest environmental consultancies, we engage in projects ranging from small developments to major national infrastructure schemes.

The role involves leading environmental teams and managing environmental inputs throughout the project lifecycle, from feasibility and planning through to detailed design, construction, and handover. You will work closely with technical specialists and design teams to improve environmental performance, promote sustainable design, and deliver environmental enhancements such as improved habitats, cleaner air and water, and lower carbon impacts.

Typical responsibilities include providing expert environmental advice, leading complex projects, managing project delivery and finances, building client relationships, developing new business opportunities, and contributing to innovation in environmental assessment techniques. You will also play a key role in fostering a positive team culture, supporting career development, and promoting health, safety, and wellbeing within the workplace.

Requirements

Experience
- Extensive experience in Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and environmental management within multi-disciplinary teams
- Proven track record working on large-scale infrastructure projects such as rail, highways, energy, and commercial/residential developments
- Strong knowledge of relevant environmental and planning legislation
- Demonstrated ability to lead complex projects, including commercial, risk, and quality management aspects
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including report writing and reviewing with attention to detail

Qualifications
- Relevant environmental degree or equivalent qualification in EIA or related field
- Chartered Environmental Status or demonstrable progress towards it
- Full membership of IEMA or similar professional body membership
- Commitment to continuous professional development and innovation in environmental assessment
