About the Role
At WSP, you will have the opportunity to work on landmark projects that make a positive impact on communities and the environment. We are seeking a Principal Environmental (EIA) Consultant to join our Environmental Management and Assessment Team in London or the South East. You will work across a diverse portfolio of sectors including energy, aviation, nuclear, rail, property, and local government. This role involves leading environmental teams and managing environmental inputs throughout the project lifecycle, from feasibility and planning through to detailed design, construction, and handover.
You will provide expert environmental advice and support to clients, project managers, and colleagues, promoting sustainable design and environmental enhancement. Your responsibilities will include leading complex projects, managing project delivery and finances, building client relationships, and contributing to business development and marketing activities. You will also play a key role in driving innovation within the team, including Digital EIA and technical excellence initiatives.
This role is ideal for a proactive individual eager to influence and lead environmental elements of engineering projects, working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to deliver environmental benefits such as improved habitats, cleaner air and water, and lower carbon footprints. Experience
- Extensive experience in Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and EIA processes within multi-disciplinary teams
- Proven track record working on large-scale infrastructure projects such as rail, highways, energy, and commercial/residential developments
- Strong project management skills including commercial, risk management, forecasting, and quality assurance
- Sound knowledge of relevant environmental and planning legislation
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including report writing and reviewing with strong attention to detail

Qualifications
- Relevant environmental degree or equivalent qualification in EIA or related field
- Chartered Environmental Status or demonstrable progress towards chartership
- Full membership of IEMA or similar professional body
