About the Role

We are seeking a Senior level environmental professional to join our Environmental Management and Assessment Team across London and the South East. Our diverse portfolio spans sectors such as energy, aviation, nuclear, rail, property, and local government. As one of the UK’s largest environmental consultancies, we engage in projects ranging from small developments to major national infrastructure schemes. Our team is involved throughout the project lifecycle, from early concept and option stages to consent application, detailed design, construction, and handover. You will work closely with environmental specialists and engineering teams to promote sustainable design, environmental enhancement, and deliver projects that improve habitats, air and water quality, and reduce carbon impacts.
As a Principal EIA Consultant, you will lead environmental teams and inputs across multiple sectors including rail, highways, energy, and commercial/residential developments. Your role will involve project leadership, bidding, team management, delivery, and financial oversight. Typical responsibilities include providing expert environmental advice, managing complex projects, building client relationships, developing new business opportunities, and driving innovation in environmental assessment techniques such as Digital EIA and Future Ready EIA. You will also play a key role in fostering team culture, promoting inclusivity, and supporting health and safety standards.

Experience
- Extensive experience in Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and EIA processes within multi-disciplinary teams
- Proven track record working on large-scale infrastructure projects such as rail, highways, energy, and commercial/residential developments
- Strong project management skills including commercial, risk management, forecasting, and quality assurance
- Sound knowledge of relevant environmental and planning legislation
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including report writing and reviewing with attention to detail

Qualifications
- Relevant environmental degree or equivalent qualification in EIA or related field
- Chartered Environmental Status achieved or demonstrably working towards it
- Full membership of IEMA or similar professional body membership
