About the Role
At WSP, you will have the opportunity to work on landmark projects that make a positive impact on communities worldwide. We are seeking a Senior environmental professional to join our Environmental Management and Assessment Team within the London or South East offices. Our portfolio spans multiple sectors including energy, aviation, nuclear, rail, property, and local government. You will contribute to projects at all stages of the development lifecycle, from concept and option stages through to consent application, detailed design, construction, and handover. Working closely with environmental specialists and engineering teams, you will help shape sustainable designs that enhance habitats, improve air and water quality, reduce carbon emissions, and deliver overall environmental gain.

As a Principal EIA Consultant, you will lead environmental teams and inputs across diverse projects, influencing and delivering environmental elements for rail, highways, energy, commercial, and residential developments. Your responsibilities will include project leadership, bidding, team management, project delivery, and financial oversight. You will provide expert environmental advice to clients and colleagues, promote sustainable design, and build strong client relationships. You will also contribute to business development activities, including preparing proposals, delivering bids, and presenting at conferences.

Requirements

Experience
- Extensive experience in Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and EIA processes within multi-disciplinary teams
- Proven track record working on large-scale infrastructure projects such as rail, highways, energy, and commercial/residential developments
- Strong project management skills including commercial, risk management, forecasting, and quality assurance
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including report writing and reviewing with attention to detail
- Sound knowledge of relevant environmental and planning legislation

- Strong client relationship builder with experience in business development and marketing of environmental services
- Enthusiastic about promoting sustainable design and environmental enhancement

Qualifications
- Relevant environmental degree or equivalent qualification in EIA or related field
- Achieved or working towards Chartered Environmental Status and full membership of IEMA or similar professional body
- Demonstrable commitment to professional development and continuous learning
