About the Role
At WSP, you will have the opportunity to work on landmark projects and collaborate with some of the brightest minds in the environmental field. We are seeking a Senior level environmental professional to join our Environmental Management and Assessment Team within the London or South East offices. Our portfolio spans diverse sectors including energy, aviation, nuclear, rail, property, and local government. As one of the UK’s largest environmental consultancies, we engage in projects ranging from small developments to major national infrastructure schemes, providing environmental inputs throughout the project lifecycle.
In this role, you will lead environmental teams and contribute to project designs and assessments, influencing environmental performance across sectors such as rail, highways, energy, and commercial/residential developments. You will be involved from feasibility through to planning, detailed design, construction, and handover/maintenance phases.
Your responsibilities will include providing environmental advice and support to clients and project teams, promoting sustainable design and environmental enhancement, leading complex projects with oversight of technical, quality, commercial, and health and safety aspects, and building strong client relationships. You will also play a key role in business development, including preparing proposals, delivering bids, and representing WSP at conferences.
Additionally, you will contribute to innovation within the team through initiatives such as Digital EIA and Technical Excellence, support career development within your team, and promote an inclusive and safe workplace culture aligned with WSP’s values.

Experience
- Extensive experience in Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and EIA processes within multi-disciplinary teams
- Proven track record working on large-scale infrastructure projects such as rail, highways, energy, and commercial/residential developments
- Strong project management skills including commercial, risk management, forecasting, and quality assurance
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including report writing and reviewing with attention to detail
- Sound knowledge of relevant environmental and planning legislation

Qualifications
- Relevant environmental degree or equivalent qualification in EIA or related discipline
- Achieved or working towards Chartered Environmental Status and full membership of IEMA or a similar professional body
