About the Role
Join WSP’s world-class Ground and Water team as a Principal Geo-Environmental Consultant specialising in contaminated land assessment and remediation. You will contribute to key regional and national projects, supporting contaminated land investigation, remediation, and management. Your responsibilities will include project and task management, overseeing site investigations, supervising fieldwork such as soil logging, environmental sampling, chemical and geotechnical testing, groundwater sampling, and ground gas monitoring. You will be involved in data collation, review and interpretation, preparation and review of technical reports including desk studies, ground investigation reports, remediation options appraisals, and verification reports. Additionally, you will design site investigations, develop client relationships, ensure compliance with safety, health and environmental standards, and provide support and mentoring to early career professionals. Requirements

Experience
- Proven knowledge of planning, designing, and managing site investigations.
- Understanding and application of Construction Design and Management (CDM) Regulations for safe site investigation design and implementation.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the UK land contamination regime and risk-based assessment approaches.
- Strong report writing skills, able to present complex technical information clearly and accurately.
- Experience in data handling; GIS experience is desirable.
- Familiarity with different regulatory regimes including development planning consenting (TCPA and DCO), environmental permitting, due diligence, nuclear site end states, GRR, and environmental impact assessment.
- Expertise in specialist technical areas such as quantitative risk assessment, waste/material management, radiological characterisation, hydrogeology, and remediation.

Qualifications
- Relevant technical degree in chemistry, biology, geology, engineering, environmental science, or related discipline.
- Working towards or willing to work towards Chartership/Professional Qualification (e.g. QP) with a relevant institution.
