About the Role

We are looking for a Principal Mechanical Engineer with previous consultancy experience to join our Places Design Practice. In this role, you will deliver elegant and efficient mechanical design solutions on exciting and challenging projects for key clients worldwide. Our work supports the creation and enhancement of smart, safe, and sustainable places where people live, work, learn, and thrive, including homes, shops, workplaces, schools, hospitals, manufacturing, research and development facilities, and data centres.

As Principal Mechanical Engineer, you will lead mechanical design on larger projects, collaborating with other design disciplines to ensure integrated overall solutions. You will present complex technical solutions to clients and manage project teams of up to 10 people, providing technical advice and supporting their professional development. You will also manage the performance of team members and sub-contractors, ensuring timely resolution of any issues.

Experience
Previous experience working in a consultancy environment is essential. Proven track record in a similar role leading mechanical design projects and managing teams.

Qualifications
- BSc/BEng or MSc/MEng in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or equivalent professional accreditation
