About the Role

As a Principal Town Planner, you will contribute to the success of the town planning team by supporting the wider team to win and deliver outstanding work for our clients, grow our capability and reputation, and build positive relationships within Arcadis and beyond. You will be an integral part of an integrated planning and environmental team, delivering projects across multiple sectors.
You will lead and deliver high-quality technical work independently or as part of a team, ensuring adherence to professional guidance, policy, and best practice. Managing the performance of team members and subcontractors, you will identify and resolve issues and escalate when necessary. You will manage your time effectively with minimal supervision to ensure timely delivery and optimal utilisation. Collaboration with other sectors and disciplines will be key to maintaining the integrity of overall solutions and resolving complex technical issues.
Developing effective working relationships with project leads and clients, you will communicate progress, changes, and resolve issues efficiently. You will coach and provide technical advice to junior team members to support their project delivery and professional development. Maintaining an excellent understanding of Arcadis services, client businesses, and industry sectors will enable you to network effectively and strengthen both personal and company credibility. Additionally, you will contribute to proposal submissions to help prepare high-quality winning bids and engage proactively with Arcadis policies, procedures, and processes in line with our General Business Principles.
Experience
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline, preferably accredited by the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) or equivalent. Chartered status or equivalent is required. Significant relevant experience in town planning or a directly relevant profession, with substantial practical application of key principles. Thorough understanding of town planning, including development planning, planning policy, and infrastructure planning, with good knowledge of related disciplines. Advanced proficiency with relevant desktop applications. Excellent interpersonal, communication, time management, technical, project management, client relationship management, and commercial skills. Strong understanding of Environmental, Safety and Risk Management.

Qualifications
