About the Role
Balfour Beatty Power Transmission & Distribution is playing a key role in delivering major utility diversion works as part of the Lower Thames Crossing programme. We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the successful delivery of utilities infrastructure works on this nationally significant project. Based in Grays, this role offers the opportunity to take ownership of complex multidisciplinary utility diversion schemes, managing projects from planning and design through delivery, commissioning and handover. You will be responsible for ensuring safe, efficient and commercially successful project delivery while leading high-performing teams and maintaining strong relationships with clients, stakeholders and supply chain partners. This is a fantastic opportunity for an established Project Manager with a strong utilities background who thrives in a fast-paced, technically challenging environment.

What you'll be doing
As Project Manager, you will have overall accountability for the safe, timely and cost-effective delivery of utility diversion works, ensuring project objectives are achieved while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality and operational excellence. Key responsibilities include:
- Leading projects from inception through to completion and final handover
- Managing multidisciplinary delivery teams, subcontractors and supply chain partners
- Driving programme performance, commercial outcomes and project governance
- Building and maintaining strong client and stakeholder relationships
- Leading project reviews, reporting and risk management activities
- Ensuring robust planning, procurement and resource management processes are in place
- Maintaining a relentless focus on health, safety and environmental performance
- Reviewing designs, interrogating technical solutions and challenging where appropriate
- Managing project risks, opportunities and change control processes
- Developing and mentoring project teams to promote long-term capability and succession
- Ensuring all works are delivered in accordance with contractual, regulatory and quality requirements

Requirements

Experience
- Significant Project Management experience within the utilities sector
- Demonstrable experience delivering utility diversion projects on major infrastructure or civil engineering programmes
- Strong understanding of utility assets and construction methodologies
- Experience managing multidisciplinary project teams and supply chains
- Proven ability to deliver projects safely, on programme and within budget
- Strong stakeholder and client management capability
- Sound commercial and contractual awareness
- Experience managing project risk, governance and reporting requirements

About you
- Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, technically challenging environment
- Full UK driving licence

Qualifications
- Project Management qualification (APM, PRINCE2 or equivalent) desirable
- Degree or HNC/HND in an engineering, construction or related discipline desirable
- SMSTS or equivalent site management qualification desirable
- Experience working on National Highways or major infrastructure projects desirable
- Background in power, utilities, civil engineering or infrastructure delivery desirable
