We are currently recruiting a Gardener to join the grounds maintenance team at a prestigious private sports and leisure facility in South West London. The site includes formal gardens, lawns, croquet pitches, and sports landscapes, offering a varied and rewarding horticultural environment.
What You Will Do:
Carry out a range of seasonal gardening tasks including soil cultivation, pruning, mulching, weeding, raking, bed preparation, and planting
Maintain propagation units, nursery frames, and polytunnels
Perform lawn care duties such as mowing, fertilising, and seeding
Operate and maintain light machinery and power tools including hedge trimmers, blowers, and line trimmers
Work both independently and in teams to complete scheduled horticultural tasks to a high standard
Keep gardens, paths, and highways tidy and clear of litter or snow
Follow Health and Safety policies and procedures at all times
Report any site security concerns and help maintain clean work and welfare facilities
Apply chemicals where appropriate (PA1, PA6 or willingness to work towards these is desirable)
Support other teams when required, working collaboratively under a "One Team" approach
Assist with gritting and other winter weather-related duties
What We Are Looking For:
NVQ or City & Guilds Level 2 in Horticulture (preferred but not essential)
Candidates without formal qualifications will be considered if they have some experience in horticulture or gardening
Most important is a genuine passion for gardens and pride in quality presentation
Must understand the early hours and be prepared to work weekends as part of the rota
Should live within a reasonable commute of Roehampton
Broad gardening experience in both general and formal settings
Motivated, physically fit, and comfortable working outdoors year-round
High level of attention to detail and professional site conduct
Spraying certificates (PA1, PA2, PA6a) are desirable
Pay:
£28,808 to £30,808 per year (plus paid overtime)
Working Hours:
Monday to Friday, 6:00am to 2:30pm
Some weekend work required
