We currently have an opportunity for a Principal Rail Drainage Engineer to join our Rail North West team in Warrington. In this role, you will provide technical leadership for drainage design across rail and infrastructure projects, supporting the delivery of complex multidisciplinary engineering solutions. You will lead design assurance, technical decision-making, and the development of high-quality drainage solutions on major projects. Key responsibilities include leading drainage design, delivering complex drainage packages, coordinating multidisciplinary interfaces, reviewing and approving technical deliverables, leading design reviews, managing design risks and assumptions, supporting project delivery through client and stakeholder engagement, and promoting technical excellence and continuous improvement. You will also support colleagues working towards CRE responsibilities where applicable.

Experience
- Significant experience in drainage design for rail, infrastructure, or related civil engineering projects
- Strong technical knowledge of drainage systems including surface water, foul water, SuDS, earthworks drainage, and rail or highway drainage
- Experience leading complex design packages and coordinating multidisciplinary technical inputs
- Experience reviewing, verifying, and approving technical deliverables
- Strong understanding of engineering standards, design risk management, and assurance processes
- Experience providing technical leadership to engineering teams

Qualifications
- BSc/BEng or MSc/MEng, or equivalent, in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
- Desirable: Chartered Engineer (CEng), Incorporated Engineer (IEng) or equivalent professional status
- Desirable: CRE experience or working towards CRE responsibilities
