About the Role
AWS Infrastructure Services (AIS) is responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure, ensuring continuous access to cloud innovation. As a Regional Environmental Engineer, you will support site development and environmental compliance in the London region. You will ensure that standards and policies support regulatory operational compliance and provide environmental guidance to regional operations teams. Your role will include environmental performance analysis, reporting, monitoring metrics, and guiding operations teams in implementing Amazon environmental procedures. You will also support new site development, including environmental permit preparation, communication with authorities, and operational compliance. This role requires collaboration with internal and external partners such as government entities, contractors, consultants, design, construction, and operations teams. You will manage compliance with local and national environmental regulations, represent Amazon with governmental agencies, and drive regional environmental programs by integrating with engineering, construction, and operations teams. Additionally, you will develop and present environmental metrics, submit critical environmental reports, conduct audits and incident investigations, and contribute to environmental permitting processes.

Requirements

Experience
- Experience in environmental compliance and permitting, waste management, contractual, regulatory, and liability assessments
- Experience with environmental permit evaluations and applications, EIAs, and water discharge requirements
- Experience in environmental reporting, documentation, investigations, and developing corrective actions
- Experience working under pressure and meeting regulatory deadlines
- Experience in a fast-paced, dynamic organization
- Experience in a data center or other critical environment, or facilities management
- Experience with environmental auditing and compliance verification

About You
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Strong communication skills in English with the ability to collaborate with various departments, external stakeholders, contractors, consultants, and regulatory agencies
- Ability to foster an environmentally responsible culture and maintain environmental management processes

Qualifications
- Master's degree or equivalent in an environmental field
- Knowledge of environmental management systems (ISO 14001)
- Knowledge of waste management and circular economy principles
- Understanding of climate change regulations and greenhouse gas (GHG) reporting
