Retrofit Designer
Location: North Bristol – Hybrid working (3 days on-site, 2 days remote with flexibility for site visits)
Salary: £30,000–£45,000 per annum (depending on experience)
Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm
Employment Type: Permanent, Full-time

The Opportunity
We’re seeking a skilled Retrofit Designer to join our growing team and help deliver high-quality, sustainable retrofit solutions. Working on domestic retrofit projects for Housing Associations and Local Authorities, you’ll play a vital role in making homes more energy-efficient, comfortable, and cost-effective.

The Role
You’ll be responsible for producing technical retrofit design specifications in line with PAS 2035 standards, collaborating closely with Retrofit Coordinators, Assessors, and Project Managers to ensure designs are accurate, practical, and deliverable. This is a great opportunity for someone with a strong technical background who wants to make a real impact on communities and the environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop whole-house retrofit design plans in line with PAS 2035, PAS 2030 and TrustMark requirements.
• Review assessment reports and recommend suitable energy efficiency measures.
• Produce U-value calculations, technical specifications, and design drawings for installation teams.
• Collaborate with delivery teams and contractors to ensure design intent is maintained.
• Ensure compliance with building regulations, funding requirements, and industry best practice.
• Stay up to date with retrofit technologies and design standards.

What We’re Looking For

• ARB or MCIOB qualified (essential).
• Experience in retrofit design, architecture, surveying, or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of PAS 2035 and whole-house retrofit principles.
• Level 5 Retrofit Designer qualification (or working towards it).
• Proficiency in design tools such as AutoCAD or SketchUp.
• Excellent understanding of building physics, insulation, ventilation, and moisture risk.
• Strong attention to detail and confident producing technical documentation.
• Collaborative approach with excellent communication skills.
