You will be an enthusiastic Senior Engineer involved in supporting our regional Development Team in Manchester, focusing on civil engineering for development infrastructure. You will work within a team supporting the production of designs and drawings for construction projects and technical reports for masterplanning in support of planning applications. You can expect to be active on several projects and client accounts at any given time. You will report to a senior member of the Development Team.
Your role will involve providing day to day support in the delivery of concept studies and strategies with hands-on design, leading to planning applications, technical approval submissions and construction drawing issue. You will contribute to all types of Development projects across all sectors and clients and be active on several varied multi-disciplinary project/client accounts simultaneously.
You will be supported by a team of experienced and developing technical staff of various grades, to whom you will provide guidance and support as appropriate. Your involvement will include high profile client engagement, stakeholder management, design team liaison (both internal and with external multidisciplinary professionals) and project management.
Depending on experience, you will be responsible or actively engaged in ensuring your projects are delivered to budget, programme, technical standards and legal requirements.

Experience
- Knowledge of and experience in highway/roads design, drainage strategy and design, flood risk assessment and management, utility design and planning.
- Working knowledge of the UK Development Industry.
- Ability to produce infrastructure masterplans, site appraisals, technical reports, design calculations and construction drawings.
- Familiarity with relevant design codes such as Water UK Sewerage Sector Guidance, Design Manual for Roads & Bridges, Designing Streets, and Local Authority Design Guidance.
- Experience preparing drawings for contract documentation and technical approvals.
- Awareness of current and emerging technical and planning guidance on climate change and sustainability.
- Ability to use or direct and check the use of relevant software including InfoDrainage, Civils 3D and/or PDS.
- Experience liaising with clients, co-professionals, design teams, and statutory authorities to negotiate technical approvals and statutory agreements.
- Knowledge of legal processes, planning, design software, technical consents, adoption and contract procedures related to sewers, SuDS, highways and utilities for new developments and regeneration projects.
- Robust knowledge of financial and contractual aspects of planning, bidding, and delivering projects of varying sizes.
