Location
Reading, with hybrid working based at Clearwater Court and travel to other sites. Minimum 3 days on site per week.

Hours
36 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Full-time and part-time hours are considered, supporting flexible and inclusive working.

Salary
£55,000 to £65,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience.

Join Thames Water’s Major Projects Team and help shape the future of water and wastewater infrastructure. As Thames Water enters Year 2 of AMP8, we are expanding our Major Projects Technical Assurance teams and recruiting Senior Engineers to apply their expertise where it truly counts. This unique opportunity involves working on some of the UK’s most ambitious and critical water and wastewater infrastructure programmes—projects that protect the environment, strengthen network resilience and serve millions of customers every day.

Senior Engineers provide technical authority and assurance across a diverse portfolio of high-value major projects (£30m–£200m+), spanning feasibility, design, delivery and handover. Working at the heart of complex schemes, you will influence key engineering decisions, challenge solutions, manage risk and help ensure assets are safe, sustainable and built to last.

Key responsibilities include leading technical assurance across major capital projects to ensure delivery to time, cost and quality; shaping engineering solutions that balance innovation, resilience and value for money; championing a strong health, safety and wellbeing culture aligned with Thames Water’s Triple Zero ambition; collaborating closely with contractors, consultants and internal stakeholders to ensure compliance with technical, environmental and regulatory standards; and ensuring solutions meet the Project Brief, stakeholder requirements and deliver best Whole Life Cost.

You will work within a collaborative environment across engineering, commercial and delivery disciplines, engaging with a wide and diverse supply chain. This role offers scale, technical challenge and the chance to leave a lasting engineering legacy during AMP8.

Experience
Proven experience in a technical leadership or assurance role, contributing to complex major projects across the full lifecycle. Experience working across multi-disciplinary engineering teams and strong commercial awareness with a practical understanding of engineering and delivery contracts.

Qualifications
A degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, ICA or Process Engineering or equivalent practical experience. Candidates from the water sector and those with strong transferable skills from other regulated infrastructure environments are welcome.
