As a Senior Environmental Project Manager, you will be a visible environmental leader within WSP's Earth & Environment discipline. Reporting to the Environmental Project Management Team Leader, you will focus on project delivery in a senior leadership capacity, typically as the designated Project Manager or Project Director. You will lead multi-disciplinary projects, some environmental-led and others as part of wider engineering teams, delivering some of the UK's most exciting and nationally important large-scale infrastructure schemes.
Your projects will span key sectors including highways, rail, aviation, defence, nuclear, residential and property, energy generation and renewables, and transmission and distribution. You will support all stages of the project cycle, including planning and construction phases.
Key responsibilities include:
- Acting as Environmental lead project manager on large, complex, and high-value multi-disciplinary projects
- Ensuring implementation of project management fundamentals including programme, commercial, and quality management
- Promoting health and safety, inclusion, and diversity within project teams
- Forming and managing high-performing project teams, inspiring and energising them to deliver exemplary work
- Delivering environmental principles such as regulatory compliance, mitigation and management of environmental impact, stakeholder engagement, and sustainability
- Overseeing baseline data management, survey planning, and interface with enabling works
- Actively managing project change and risks, ensuring adherence to project governance and delivering optimised outcomes

Experience
- Proven experience as an environmental consultant with strong knowledge of environmental impact assessments, sustainability, regulatory compliance, baseline data management, survey planning, and construction or enabling works interface
- Demonstrated track record managing multi-disciplinary environmental projects with a focus on client satisfaction and high-quality outcomes
- Experience leading project teams, fostering collaboration, and ensuring successful project delivery within agreed parameters
- Strong commercial and contractual management skills, including handling Professional Services Contracts such as NEC3/4
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, able to clearly articulate key points to diverse audiences
