About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Hydrogeologist or Environmental Scientist with a focus on the water environment to join our busy Hydrology and Hydrogeology team. You will manage a varied workload delivering projects across minerals, waste management, renewables, property, and infrastructure sectors. Your work will include environmental impact assessments, water monitoring, hydrogeological site investigations, groundwater abstraction licences, and hydrogeological risk assessments tailored to your interests.
You will collaborate closely with hydrologists, hydrogeologists, and colleagues from ecology, land quality, planning, and minerals teams to support multi-disciplinary projects. This role offers the opportunity to progress your career by managing projects, developing client relationships, and providing technical guidance to junior staff.
Key responsibilities include technical delivery of Environmental Impact Assessments, coordinating Water Environment chapters and technical appendices for Environmental Statements, contributing to environmental management plans, supporting construction industry water advice, conducting site works such as walkover surveys, borehole installation, hydraulic testing, and monitoring groundwater and surface water quality and levels. You will also assist clients with abstraction licensing, Hydrogeological Risk Assessments for landfill and recovery permits, and Groundwater Risk Assessments for discharges and activity permits.
Additional duties involve proposal writing, risk identification, project setup, budget tracking, and ensuring high-quality deliverables to strengthen client relationships. You will manage and direct projects within your specialist area, provide workload instruction, mentor and coach team members, contribute to strategic planning and team development, and keep abreast of technical innovations and regulatory changes to maintain best practice and compliance.
Experience
Proven experience delivering a range of technical water environment and hydrogeological studies. Experience in Environmental Impact Assessments, water sampling best practices, and use of specialist GIS, analysis, and modelling software is essential.
Good knowledge of UK water-related legislation and regulatory requirements.
Demonstrated ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences through written reports and meetings.

Qualifications
