Our water and aquatic ecology teams have a proud track record of supporting water companies in England and Wales with these challenges. Due to the scale of work required for AMP8, we are looking for experienced and committed individuals to join our water team to manage WINEP water resources projects.
Your role will sit within the Catchment Science team in our Sustainable Water Management Consulting group, working with experienced multi-disciplinary teams of technical experts including hydrogeologists, hydrologists, geomorphologists and hydro-ecologists. The role will be varied and include:
- Managing and supporting delivery of robust technical assessments and high-quality reporting across Sustainable Water Management and Aquatic Ecology teams
- Leading day-to-day client and regulator engagement for WINEP investigations
- Project management including financial and change control and quality assurance through checking and reviewing
- Supporting development and delivery of the WINEP project pipeline with Service Area leads
- Generating high-quality bid proposals and developing innovative solutions to meet client needs
- Promoting a 'safety first' attitude in line with WSP's health and safety policies

Experience
- Proven experience managing WINEP investigations or similar projects, including project and technical management
- Ability to manage wider teams of experts to deliver robust technical assessments
- Clear understanding of regulatory requirements and expectations of WINEP investigations, particularly relating to the Water Framework Directive
- Ideally some experience assessing impacts of abstraction on the water environment, with ability to collaborate effectively with technical specialists
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and influence at all levels
- Strong commercial awareness and understanding of client needs
- Experience identifying and developing business opportunities and preparing winning proposals
- Excellent report-writing and technical review skills
About you
Experienced and enthusiastic self-starter capable of independent work and teamwork. Highly motivated with excellent communication skills. Able to apply your own technical knowledge and collaborate to maximise collective expertise, analyse problems and find solutions to new challenges. Flexible to work across disciplines including water resources, hydrogeology, water quality, flood risk management and environmental impact assessment.
Qualifications
- MSc and/or BSc degree in a relevant discipline such as earth sciences, environmental science or geography
- Chartered or working towards chartership with a relevant professional body
