About the Role
At WSP, you have the opportunity to work on landmark projects that the world needs, collaborating with some of the brightest minds in the industry. As a Senior, Principal, or Associate Sustainability Consultant within the Building Performance team, you will support the delivery of sustainable building solutions on high-profile projects as part of a growing national team. The team plays a central role in coordinating multi-disciplinary efforts towards Zero Carbon designs and provides sustainability and energy master planning advice for urban and semi-rural developments. You will work across a variety of building types including commercial offices, residential, education, healthcare, and retail, delivering sustainability strategies and certifications such as BREEAM, LEED, WELL, and NABERS.

Your responsibilities will include leading sustainability assessment projects, understanding and supporting client sustainability and wellbeing aspirations, preparing Sustainability, Whole Life Carbon, and Circular Economy Statements for planning submissions, and coordinating sustainability contributions from diverse design team stakeholders. You will prepare clear, high-quality reports and ensure compliance with current and proposed UK sustainability legislation. This role requires independent project management and leadership in sustainability certifications, driving innovation and best practice within the business.

Requirements

Experience
- Proven experience as a sustainability consultant leading sustainability assessments and certifications including LEED, WELL, and BREEAM
- Strong understanding of Net Zero, Low Carbon Design, and sustainable materials
- Experience driving design teams to maximize sustainability outcomes and delivering multiple certification projects
- Knowledge of the construction process and sustainable design implications
- Experience supporting business development and bid processes with commercial acumen
- Understanding of thermal modelling, low carbon energy strategies, and current UK planning policies related to sustainability and Net Zero targets

About You
- A passionate champion of sustainability who drives behavioural change and innovation
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, able to engage effectively with clients and colleagues
- Strong time management and project coordination skills
- Ability to provide training and mentorship to junior consultants

Qualifications
- WELL AP and/or LEED AP qualification
- Degree in engineering, environmental science, architecture, sustainability, or related discipline
- Membership of a relevant professional institution and working towards or already holding Chartered status as an engineer, scientist, or environmentalist
