About the Role

We currently have an opportunity for a Senior Rail Drainage Engineer to join our Rail North West & Central Business teams in Yorkshire, Cheshire and Manchester. In this role, you will lead the delivery of drainage design packages for rail and infrastructure projects, developing drainage solutions and ensuring high-quality technical outputs are delivered in line with project requirements. You will prepare, review and verify drainage calculations, drawings, reports and technical documentation, and develop drainage solutions covering surface water, foul water, SuDS, earthworks drainage and rail/highways drainage. The role involves undertaking drainage design and modelling using software such as InfoDrainage and CivilStorm, coordinating drainage design with multidisciplinary project teams, and supporting approvals and consents submissions to relevant authorities including LLFAs and Water Authorities. You will also provide technical guidance to junior engineers and technicians, identify and manage design risks, and ensure compliance with relevant standards and Arcadis requirements.

Experience
Proven drainage design experience within infrastructure projects; rail experience is desirable. Knowledge of surface water, foul water, SuDS, earthworks drainage and rail/highways drainage systems. Proficiency in drainage design and hydraulic modelling software. Experience preparing and reviewing technical calculations, drawings and reports. Understanding of approvals and consents processes involving relevant authorities.

Able to manage design risks and ensure compliance with standards. Motivated to work on technically challenging rail and infrastructure projects as part of a growing rail team.

Qualifications
BSc/BEng or MSc/MEng, or equivalent, in Civil Engineering or a related discipline. Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Incorporated Engineer (IEng) status with a relevant professional institution is desirable.
