Service & Repair Engineer (Air Source Heat Pumps) – Manchester


Location: Manchester and surrounding areas (field-based)
Salary: £40,000–£45,000 + project completion bonus
Contract: Permanent, full-time
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8-hour shifts

About the Role
We’re looking for an experienced Service & Repair Engineer to join our growing team on a permanent, full-time basis. You’ll be responsible for servicing, fault-finding, diagnosing, and repairing air source heat pumps (ASHP) from a range of manufacturers. You’ll also conduct site surveys and occasionally supervise installation teams. This is a field-based role covering Manchester and nearby areas.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out routine servicing, preventative maintenance, and warranty work on ASHP systems.
- Diagnose and repair faults across electrical, refrigerant, control, and hydraulic systems.
- Complete accurate service reports, test certificates, and job documentation.
- Conduct site surveys to assess existing systems and prepare for repairs or installations.
- Supervise and coordinate installation teams when required, ensuring quality and safety.
- Liaise with project managers, customers, and subcontractors to provide updates and technical feedback.
- Maintain company vehicle, tools, and stock to a high standard.
- Follow all health and safety regulations and company policies.
Person Specification
Essential:
- Proven experience servicing and repairing ASHP systems (multi-manufacturer experience preferred).
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills across electrical and mechanical systems.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the region.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Competent with mobile reporting tools and paperwork.
Desirable:
- Relevant heating, F-Gas, refrigeration, or electrical qualifications (e.g., NVQ, City & Guilds, F-Gas).
- Experience with commissioning and project handover.
- Health & Safety qualifications (CSCS, SMSTS, IOSH) or willingness to obtain them.
