About the Role
Arcadis is the world's leading company delivering sustainable design, engineering, and consultancy solutions for natural and built assets. With over 34,000 people in more than 30 countries, we are dedicated to improving quality of life by solving complex challenges together.

Our paid Intern programme offers a hands-on insight into the work we do and helps develop skills and knowledge within your chosen field. Supported by signposted training, the programme is based on Arcadis’ core values, providing both technical training and personal and professional development.

During your 10–12-week internship, you will work on real projects and with clients, specialising from day one in your chosen discipline within the Ecology team. You will be responsible for your own deliverables, liaise with clients, and gain a wide range of experiences.

The Ecology team has over 30 years of experience in ecological surveys, assessments, habitat design, and nature-based solutions. You will assist in delivering ecological surveys, Preliminary Ecological Appraisals (PEAs), biodiversity strategies, environmental net gain design and impact assessments, and licence applications.

You will have opportunities to undertake surveys across the UK, often in remote and scenic locations, requiring travel and overnight stays. Site work includes delivering and supervising mitigation measures such as habitat creation and reptile translocation, as well as construction activities like tree removal and ground investigations.

Ecology is a dynamic profession involving diverse habitats, species, and clients. While public transport is prioritised, site locations often require driving; therefore, a full UK driving licence is essential. We provide 4x4 training as needed.

Our clients span industry and government sectors, all sharing ambitions for nature transformation and net positive business outcomes. We strive to achieve the best results for nature, people, and business.

Join Arcadis to make a meaningful impact, develop your career, and contribute to sustainable solutions for a prosperous planet.
