As a Team Leader (Solar), you will be part of an industry-leading team of renewable energy specialists, responsible for operations and maintenance tasks on utility-scale battery storage plants and ground-mounted solar PV plants across the Dorset/Bournemouth area.
This permanent, field-based role requires you to ensure plants achieve outstanding levels of safety, quality, and performance within operational budgets. You will be a qualified electrician with experience operating and maintaining MW-scale power plants, possessing DC and HV electrical competencies. You will have access to a company vehicle, smartphone, and laptop/tablet, and benefit from RES’s comprehensive package including contributory pension, private health insurance, and role-specific training.
Opportunities to work towards Authorised Person (AP) or Senior Authorised Person (SAP) status are available, supported by RES’s in-house training programme. Technicians demonstrating passion, accountability, collaboration, and excellence will find significant opportunities for career progression to advanced levels such as HV Authorised Person or Senior Authorised Person.
Key responsibilities include following and managing health and safety standards, undertaking planned inspections and maintenance, AC and DC system testing, troubleshooting, fault diagnosis and repair, configuring computer-based devices, inducting and managing subcontractors, maintaining accurate records, and effective communication with the O&M office and team. Occasional travel between sites and offices, and short periods away from home for training or site coverage, will be required.
Experience
- Experience operating and maintaining MW-scale solar PV and battery storage plants
- Experience with DC and LV installation, fault finding, testing and commissioning
- Experience working with SCADA or data monitoring systems
- Experience reading, writing, and amending Risk Assessments and Method Statements
- Experience working with equipment vendors to support fault diagnosis
- Experience installing or maintaining ethernet and fibre optic communications
- Experience working remotely on solar PV installation and O&M (MW-scale or large commercial ground-mount)
- Experience with central inverters and high voltage switchgear is desirable

Qualifications
- Full UK driving licence
- Approved Electrician status
- Inspection and testing qualifications (C&G 2391 or 2394/5) highly valued
- First aid qualifications desirable
- Health & Safety qualifications such as IOSH Managing Safely or SMSTS desirable
