The Turbine O&M Technician role involves delivering planned and unplanned operation and maintenance services, including minor and major corrective works, to offshore wind farm assets. You will work predominantly on site in Fife with some planning and reporting from a home office. The role requires technical expertise in mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems, with essential experience on Samsung 7MW wind turbines. You will ensure services are delivered safely, on time, and in accordance with contractual requirements and standards.
Key responsibilities include fault finding and resolving technical issues, preparing risk assessments and method statements, contributing to health, safety, quality and environmental standards, participating in an on-call rota, and occasional travel within the UK and Ireland. Training will be provided on gearbox inspections, specialised equipment such as vibration analysis, ultrasound, bore scope and thermal imaging, and other technical skills. The role demands excellent communication skills, organisation, and a flexible approach to working arrangements.
Experience
- Experience of wind turbine maintenance
- Experience with lifting operations and large component exchange
- Mechanical, electrical, power electronics, and hydraulic maintenance and troubleshooting
- Troubleshooting wind turbine equipment
- Use of hydraulic tooling
- Experience working in a Health & Safety focused environment
About you
- Technical background in mechanical and electrical systems within a turbine discipline
- Good analytical fault-finding capabilities on electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems
- Excellent attitude to safety and knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation and safe working practices
- Capable of working offshore and at height
- Physically fit and able to climb
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
- Flexible approach to work including willingness to participate in on-call rota and overtime as needed
- Able to prepare risk assessments, method statements, and client-required procedures
- Comfortable with customer interface and pre-task coordination
Qualifications
- NVQ 3 or equivalent qualification in mechanical or electrical engineering, or significant relevant wind turbine experience
- Experience on Samsung 7MW wind turbines is essential
- GWO Training (desirable, but full training will be provided)
- Full driving licence required
