As part of an industry-leading team of renewable energy specialists, the Technician (Solar) is a field-based role responsible for operations and maintenance duties on utility-scale ground mounted Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). The role ensures plants achieve outstanding levels of safety, quality, and performance within operational budgets.

The ideal candidate will be a fully qualified electrician experienced in operating and maintaining MW-scale power plants, with DC and High Voltage electrical competencies. This role includes planned inspections, maintenance, fault diagnosis, troubleshooting, and repairs on electrical and communication systems. You will also induct and manage sub-contractors, maintain accurate records, and communicate closely with the O&M office and team functions. Occasional travel between sites and offices, and working away from home for training or site coverage for up to one week, is required.

Requirements

Experience
- Experience reading, writing, and amending Risk Assessments and Method Statements
- Experience liaising with equipment vendors to support fault diagnosis
- DC and LV installation, fault finding, testing, and commissioning
- Experience working remotely without close supervision
- Solar PV installation and O&M experience at MW-scale or large commercial ground-mount projects
- Battery storage installation and O&M experience at MW-scale is desirable
- Experience installing or maintaining Ethernet and fibre optic communications
- Experience working with SCADA or data monitoring systems
- Experience working with central inverters and High Voltage switchgear

Qualifications
- Full UK driving licence
- Approved Electrician status
- Inspection and testing qualifications (e.g. City & Guilds 2391 or 2394/5) highly valued
- First aid qualifications desirable
- Health & Safety qualifications (e.g. IOSH Managing Safely, SMSTS) desirable
