About the Role

As a Technician (Solar), you will be a key member of an industry-leading team performing operations and maintenance duties on utility-scale ground mounted solar PV plants and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). This field-based role focuses on ensuring plants achieve outstanding safety, quality, and performance standards while meeting operational budgets.
The ideal candidate will be a fully qualified electrician experienced in operating and maintaining MW-scale power plants, with strong DC and High Voltage electrical competencies. You will be provided with a company vehicle, smartphone, and laptop/tablet, along with a comprehensive benefits package including contributory pension, private health insurance, and role-specific training.
RES prides itself on its in-house training programme, offering opportunities to work towards Authorised Person (AP) or Senior Authorised Person (SAP) status. Technicians demonstrating aptitude and attitude for career progression will be encouraged to advance to industry-recognised HV Authorised Person roles. Experience
- Experience reading, writing, and amending Risk Assessments and Method Statements
- Experience liaising with equipment vendors to support fault diagnosis
- DC and LV installation, fault finding, testing, and commissioning
- Experience working remotely without close supervision
- Solar PV installation and O&M experience (MW-scale or large commercial ground-mount)
- Battery storage installation and O&M experience (MW-scale) is desirable
- Experience installing or maintaining ethernet and fibre optic communications
- Experience working with SCADA or data monitoring systems
- Experience working with central inverters and High Voltage switchgear

Qualifications
- Full UK driving licence
- Approved Electrician status
- Inspection and testing qualifications (C&G 2391 or 2394/5) highly valued
- First aid qualifications desirable
- Health & Safety qualifications (e.g. IOSH Managing Safely, SMSTS) desirable
