About the Role
At WSP, you will have the opportunity to work on landmark projects that address critical groundwater challenges within the water resources, environmental, and infrastructure sectors. As Technical Director - Hydrogeology Lead, you will lead the technical delivery of projects encompassing water resources hydrogeology, groundwater modelling, flooding, monitoring, and groundwater quality. Your responsibilities will include project direction with financial and change control, quality assurance, mentoring and developing junior colleagues, and contributing to the hydrogeology training programme within the Sustainable Water Management Consulting group.

You will work closely with the Catchment Science team and collaborate with other disciplines such as Ground & Water, EIA, and Mining Teams to deliver high-quality, innovative solutions. This role also involves generating high-quality bid proposals, securing new projects, and producing client- and public-facing deliverables that effectively communicate complex data.

Requirements

Experience
- Extensive experience in groundwater and water resources modelling to support resource estimation, management, and environmental impact assessments.
- Strong understanding of UK hydrogeology and the environmental and regulatory framework governing UK water management.
- Proven project management skills, including managing projects from inception to completion.
- Experience with framework management is desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and win work through understanding client needs and delivering innovative solutions.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to mentor and influence junior staff.
- Strong commercial awareness with experience in business development and proposal preparation.
- Exceptional report writing, technical review, numerical, and analytical skills with attention to detail.

Qualifications
- MSc in Hydrogeology combined with a BSc degree in a related discipline such as geology, geotechnical engineering, civil engineering, or environmental science.
- Chartered status or working towards chartership with a relevant professional body is required.
