About the Role
At WSP, you will have the opportunity to work on landmark projects worldwide, collaborating with some of the brightest minds in the industry. This leadership role within the UK and Ireland Mine Waste team combines technical leadership, project direction, business development, and client liaison. You will provide expert technical input in mining waste and tailings management, overseeing multi-disciplinary design teams and managing projects from concept through to operational and closure phases. Your responsibilities will include leading the design and assessment of mine waste facilities such as tailings facilities, water storage, waste rock dumps, and integrated waste facilities. You will also manage project proposals, cost estimates, client communications, reporting, and project closure activities with support from the project management team. Supporting and developing client relationships, actively seeking new business opportunities, and contributing to team strategy are key aspects of this role. You will promote a strong safety culture aligned with WSP’s health, safety, and wellbeing policies. Additionally, you will mentor and lead a team of scientists, engineers, and professionals to foster technical excellence and career development. Participation in global technical practice groups will help elevate WSP’s technical profile and client visibility. Experience
- Demonstrated technical leadership and collaboration skills
- Substantial experience in mine waste and tailings management
- Proven track record delivering large, multi-disciplinary projects on time and on budget
- Experience managing client relationships and business development
- Knowledge of national and international design guidelines and regulations related to mine waste disposal and facilities
- Ability to interpret and monitor geotechnical results and design structures accordingly
- Experience working effectively within team environments

Qualifications
- Degree qualified in civil engineering, geotechnical engineering, or engineering geology with strong soil mechanics emphasis
- Chartered professional status with a relevant body
- Mining and geotechnical experience related to mine waste disposal/facilities
