About the Role
At WSP, you will have the opportunity to work on landmark projects worldwide, contributing your expertise to the kind of work the world needs. As Technical Director within the UK and Ireland Mine Waste team, you will provide technical leadership, project direction, business development, and client liaison. You will lead multi-disciplinary design teams delivering projects related to mine waste and tailings, including tailings facilities, water storage, waste rock dumps, and integrated waste facilities through all project phases from concept to closure.

Your responsibilities will include managing technical delivery, project management tasks such as proposals, cost estimates, client reporting, and project closure, as well as supporting and developing client relationships and actively seeking new work. You will provide specialised technical input on tailings management, heap leach facilities, water impoundments, soil mechanics, geosynthetics, and related civil engineering projects globally.

Leading and mentoring a team of scientists, engineers, and professionals, you will support their career development, technical excellence, and commercial awareness. You will also participate in global corporate technical practice groups to elevate technical standards and visibility. Requirements

Experience
- Demonstrated technical leadership, collaboration, and delivery in mine waste and tailings.
- Substantial experience managing large, multi-disciplinary projects on time and budget.
- Proven track record in client service and business development.
- Experience with national and international design guidelines and regulations related to mine waste disposal.
- Ability to interpret and monitor geotechnical results and design structures.
- Experience working effectively within team environments.
- Willingness to travel within the UK and internationally, including remote locations.

Qualifications
- Degree qualified in civil engineering, geotechnical engineering, or engineering geology with strong soil mechanics expertise.
