Role Overview
We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Groundsman to join our team. The role supports the climber and team leader in carrying out tree work safely, efficiently and to a high standard. You will be working as part of a 3-person crew delivering tree surgery services across Manchester and Stockport. Ground staff are essential to the success of the team. A good groundsman keeps the site organised, the climber supported and the job running smoothly. We run an organised operation with proper equipment, clear systems and a
strong focus on safety and teamwork.
Main Duties
- Assisting climbers with dismantling, pruning and rigging operations
- Operating woodchippers and ground-based machinery
- Processing timber and brash safely and efficiently
- Maintaining a tidy and organised work site
- Assisting with traffic and pedestrian management where required
- Carrying out daily checks and basic maintenance of equipment
- Loading and unloading vehicles at the yard and on site
- Splitting, processing and stacking firewood for sale
- Delivering flyers to neighbouring properties when working on a street
- Taking clear site photos before, during and after work where required
- Supporting the team to maintain high safety standards
- Ensuring work areas are left clean and tidy for clients
The work is physically demanding and takes place outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Full UK driving licence
- Reliable and punctual
- Physically fit and comfortable with manual outdoor work
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Able to work well as part of a team
- Takes pride in doing a job properly
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
Desirable (not essential)
- Experience in tree surgery, landscaping or similar outdoor work
- Chainsaw qualification (CS30 / 201)
- Woodchipper qualification
- First Aid + F
- Basic photography skills (smartphone photos for job records and marketing)
- Interest in trees and arboriculture
Training and qualifications will be provided for the right candidate.
