As an Assistant Highways / Drainage Engineer within the Development team, you will contribute to concept studies, strategies, and drawing packages that support planning applications, technical approvals, and construction issues. You will be involved in a variety of development projects across multiple sectors and clients, often working on several projects simultaneously. Supported by the Cambridge team, you will develop your technical capabilities and progress your career.
Your responsibilities will include client engagement, stakeholder management, and liaison with internal and external design teams. You will ensure your tasks meet budget, programme, technical standards, and legal requirements.

The team’s vision is to be recognised as the best Development team in the industry, achieved through continuous improvement and a management structure based on Technical Excellence, People, Clients, and Operational Excellence.
WSP helps clients promote, implement, and manage sustainable development from pre-feasibility through planning consent. You will work with public and private sector land promoters, house builders, developers, architects, government bodies, and local authorities.
Key multi-disciplinary services you will help deliver include civil engineering, highways design, earthworks strategies, utilities and energy planning, drainage, flood risk and SuDS, site appraisal, due diligence, and strategic planning advice.
WSP offers a hybrid working policy with flexibility to work from home two days a week and access to modern offices across the UK. The company fosters an inclusive culture, supports health and wellbeing through various programmes, and encourages professional development including mentoring and Chartership support.
