About the Role
At WSP, you will have the opportunity to work on landmark projects that contribute to a sustainable future. We are seeking an experienced Associate / Associate Director / Technical Director to join our Environmental Consents nationwide team. This strategic role involves identifying, winning, and delivering multi-disciplinary environmental inputs to a wide range of energy projects, including some of the UK's most important infrastructure schemes supporting the UK’s Net Zero commitments.
You will lead and direct environmental teams and inputs to project designs and assessments across multiple sectors, improving environmental performance and delivering high-quality outcomes. This role suits an enthusiastic individual who is motivated to influence, lead, and deliver environmental elements of engineering projects.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading large, complex projects and managing technical, quality, commercial, and health and safety performance
- Providing environmental advice and support to clients, project managers, and colleagues
- Collaborating with diverse environmental specialists and engineering teams to promote sustainable design and environmental enhancement
- Playing a key role in expanding our water sector offering by working alongside sector leads and client account managers
- Building and maintaining client relationships and proactively seeking new business opportunities
- Leading business development activities including proposal development, strategic bids, and marketing services
- Driving innovation through initiatives such as Digital EIA, Technical Excellence, and Future Ready EIA
- Promoting team culture, supporting career development, and being a key resource within the wider team
- Championing an inclusive workplace and upholding health, safety, and wellbeing values
- Contributing to the success of WSP’s business strategy with self-motivation and goal orientation
Experience
- Proven experience in Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) delivery for major water schemes
- Familiarity with consenting processes including Habitats Regulations Assessments and SSSI Assents
- Strong knowledge of a diverse range of environmental issues
- Demonstrable line management experience
- Track record of developing and upskilling internal teams
- Evidence of successfully driving business growth
