About the Role

As a Senior / Principal Technical Lead within our Catchment Science team, you will play a key role in delivering and growing our portfolio of high-profile WINEP water resources projects. Your work will address environmental and water resource challenges faced by the water industry in England and Wales, particularly during AMP8.
You will provide technical expertise, ideally with hydro-ecology knowledge, collaborating across Sustainable Water Management and Aquatic Ecology teams to lead robust technical assessments and produce high-quality reports. Your responsibilities will include day-to-day client and regulator engagement, supporting project pipeline development, generating bid proposals, and project management including financial and change control and quality assurance. Promoting a 'safety first' culture in line with WSP's health and safety policies is essential.
This role offers the chance to work with multi-disciplinary experts including hydrogeologists, hydrologists, geomorphologists, and hydro-ecologists. You will have opportunities to contribute to wider projects such as water quality, flood risk management, biodiversity net gain, and environmental impact assessment. There is flexibility to shape the role and seniority to suit the right candidate.

Experience
- Proven technical leadership and/or management of water resources WINEP investigations or similar projects
- Ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams to deliver robust technical assessments
- Clear understanding of regulatory requirements, especially Water Framework Directive related to WINEP investigations
- Experience assessing impacts of abstraction on the water environment, ideally with hydro-ecology expertise
- Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to engage and influence at all levels
- Strong commercial awareness and experience in business development and proposal preparation
- Excellent report writing and technical review skills

Qualifications
- MSc and/or BSc degree in a relevant discipline such as earth sciences, environmental science, geography, or aquatic ecology
- Chartered or working towards chartership with a relevant professional body
